News Desk: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has reduced the eligibility criteria to 45 per cent from 50 per cent in class 12 science students for engineering courses.
Now the general category science students with 45 per cent of marks in class 12 (Physics, Chemistry and Math) are eligible for engineering courses.
AICTE has reduced the eligibility criteria further for reserved category students to 40 per cent.
Following the revision in the basic eligibility rules for engineering students by AICTE, the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) in Maharashtra has issue a notification in this regard on Tuesday.
Around 70 per cent of engineering graduates in India are from the states including Maharashra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
As per the notification by the DTE, the students those were not qualified earlier applied no qualified as per the previous qualifying norms, were advised to take the fresh receipt-cum-acknowledgement.
